Kinzig Design Necklaces

Handcrafted Designer Jewelry

Susan Kinzig can be found designing in her studio in San Francisco with her dog Mia. After earning a BFA from Kent State University, Susan Kinzig worked as a graphic designer in Colorado for seven years before moving to San Francisco and striking out on her own to craft jewelry from brass, copper, silver, plastics, and wood. Over the last 20 years, Susan has been able to create a successful three-dimensional line that has become her artistic signature.

Susan Kinzig's specialty is creating wearable art with a sterling silver base, adorned with mosaic inlays of brass and copper, or accented with semiprecious stones and pearls. She approaches each piece of jewelry as a small kinetic sculpture with a keen focus on detail, and the discovery of new techniques and materials remain a constant challenge. She loves warm rich colors and the textures of oxidized metals. Her mosaic inlays are created from patinated brass and copper that have been buried for days in a wood chip mixture to obtain the desired texture and color.
