Castaway designer Susan Wong describes herself as a visionary self-taught artist in search of hidden treasures in distinctive objects found in nature. Each piece in the Castaway collection is handcrafted in the designer's studio in Brooklyn, NY. A small limited quantity is produced in each design to maintain a sense of originality and exclusivity. Unique finds such as African sea glass beads from Ghana, hand-dyed silk fabrics, and random seashells from the Caribbean Islands are used to create beautiful earthy jewels.

Launched in the Spring of 2006, Castaway is inspired by the exotic islands, nature, and the handmade art usually seen in village flea markets along the coast of the Caribbean and Mexico. Semiprecious stones and metals are also used in the collection for more intricate and delicate pieces. The idea behind Castaway is to find the beauty and mystery beyond the unpolished exterior by combining beautiful vibrant stones then allowing them to radiate in a mixture of vintage jewels and metals. Each piece in the Castaway collection is completely original.
