Atelier Zobel Jewelry

Fine Designer Jewelry

The founder and designer of the house of Michael Zobel (born 1942 Tangier, Morocco, raised in Barcelona, Spain, an apprentice in Germany, and a jewelry designer in France), moved to Konstanz in 1968. On February 1, 2005, Michael handed the business over to Peter Schmid, and it became known as Atelier Zobel. Michael is now concentrating exclusively on the creative side of the enterprise, the design, while leaving the business side to his "new boss."

After training as a jewelry designer at the School for Design, Jewelry and Instruments, Peter Schmid completed the apprenticeship with Michael Zobel and continued working in the studio. He then went to Barcelona to "learn Japanese lacquer technology on precious metals." On his return, Peter learned everything from the master - as a goldsmith as well as a business man. For years he then accompanied Zobel to international fairs and exhibitions, and assisted him in the studio in Konstanz, until the roles could finally be exchanged.
