When building a piece of jewelry from pearls and wire, Estyn Hulbert describes the process as working with single units, adding and subtracting them to create shapes, the materials providing a palette of textures and contrasts. Estyn Hulbert moved to New York in 2000 to apprentice with her aunt, artist and jewelry designer Jessica Rose. Estyn spent five years working under Rose's guidance, immersing herself in the materials and poetry of fine wearable art. Estyn launched her own jewelry line in 2006, and continues to be inspired by ancient architecture, typography, textiles, and symbols. She allows one design to lead her to another in unanticipated directions that create a unique collection.
