Free People Designer Jewelry

Bohemian Jewelry: Designer Bracelets

Free People is a collection of vintage inspired, bohemian garments and accessories. Each piece is unique and often influenced by flea markets, giving it a certain antiqued edge. Free People started out as a retail store back in 1970. As the store grew, the name changed to Urban Outfitters. In 1984, the Free People name was brought back and evolved into a collection that junior to twenty-something women appreciate.

Back in the 70s, Dick Hayne opened a store in Philadelphia and called it Free People. As the store grew, the name was changed to Urban Outfitters. In time, his wife Meg came on to tend Urban's private label division, which supported products exclusive to Urban Outfitters. Demand was almost immediate, and to meet the overwhelming need, she and Dick created a wholesale line. It was very well received, and Dick separated the businesses. During 2001, they realized that it was really Free People that invoked some of their favorite images. They brought back the name, and Free People has evolved into a more mature contemporary brand.
