Born in Florence, Italy, Cavalli was influenced by his artistic family and especially by his grandfather Giuseppe Rossi, a Florentine painter from the Macchiaiolo movement, whose pieces can be seen in the Uffizi Museum. Fascinated by his love of art and fashion, Cavalli experimented with painting and printing patterns on clothing. He created his own unique printing style that allows printing with no interruption to the design when applying them to clothing.
